Post Post subject: Seeking accommodation fro approx 2 months for my daughter in Reply with quote

My daughter Danielle is in France at the moment. She went over in mid-March to take up an Au Pair position but lost her job after six weeks.

I'm encouraging her to find another position but in the mean tme we have to find her accommodation. She has a tentative offer that doesn't start until late July.

I may have to bring her home to Australia which would be a real shame as we have put a lot of energy and money to get her there.

Do any forum members have any ideas as to the best places to look on the internet or contacts for short term (but relatively cheap) accommodation in France?

Regards,

Jeff

Hi Jeff and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear your daughter lost her job after such a short time.

In which area is she? If you can let me have a little more information, I can try to help. Does she speak French? There are many websites with adverts of apartments to rent. What do you call short term? And how much is cheap? If she is a normally a student (or perhaps just young enough to be one) and living in a large town there may be a chance she could share a house with other students.

Thanks for responding. She is not a student but is 20 years of age. She has an Au pair visa and is hoping to get more work in that area. She is in Paris at the moment but will stay just about anywhere in France. Probably somewhere like Paris, Lyon, Toulouse or similar would be best. She has a tentative job lined up for late July so she needs accommodation for approximately 8 to 10 weeks. I can probable stretch to EU500 but would prefer something less than EU350 per month.

THanks,

Jeff

If you don't narrow it down to one area it is hard to search for accommodation for her as there are so many websites advertising rentals. Here are just a few I found when I searched on google.fr for "location appartement"
http://www.acheter-louer.fr/location_appartement.html
http://www.paruvendu.fr/immobilier/a/location-appartement/
http://www.seloger.com/immobilier/locations/ville/bien-appartement/

Otherwise you could try to contact one of the estate agents who advertise on our site:
http://www.enjoyfrance.com/directory/Property-and-Accommodation/Residential/Flats-for-Rent/15-105-103-0.html
These all advertise in English so are more likely to speak English, if you don't speak French.

There are also sites advertising for Au Pairs if she/you want to look:
http://www.eurojob.fr/au-pair/venez-au-pair-en-france/
http://www.afj-aupair.org/apfrance.htm
