Post subject: Disability ? |

Hello
My family and I are considering moving to France, but our biggest consideration is our son. Caleb is 7 and has Special Needs (Physical and Sensory) he currently goes to mainstream school in the UK.
We claim DLA here and also have a Motability Car, I get Carers Allowance for him also, is there a similar system to this in France?
Has anyone any experiences of how the "Disability System" works in France?
Any response would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Even if i'm not fully aware of the truth in this domain, i know that there're too in France some kids in mainstream schools. Nevertheless, it greatly depends of the school, as i think indeed it's at the choice of its director to find his scool adapted ... or not. There are also many schools intended for particular cases.
At 7 year old, your son should go to what is called école primaire.
Could you tell me more precisely where you'll be living near Paris ?
I've found some sites (this one for instance) that can give some clues.
Please accept my apologises if my words are clumsy... it wasn't intended (and only 'cause of my poor English).
Friendly,
Markus.
Ps : do you speack French ? _________________ Semper Fidelem |

Thank you for your response Markus
I know only VERY BASIC French..
We are looking at the Normandy area, rather than Paris.
Please do not do too much searching as we are still only considering moving and are just trying to figure out how Caleb would be accepted and cared for in France.
Thank you once again
