Good afternoon all!
My name is Danny and i plan on moving to France with my girlfriend next year. She is from France and originally came here just for 6 months but will be staying an extra year here and then eventually going back...
She has asked me to go back to live with her which sounds like a grand idea! i have falllen in love with the country and think it would be a great opportunity for me.
I have started studying french and am making good progress! I can now old a conversation with my girlfriend that she could probablyhave with a 4 year old but i am getting there! . I will be working when i move to France, i currently work in IT but realise my language skills will need improvement before i can look at opportunities like this over there and have played with the idea of Cheffing or Waitering as i have good experience of doing this a couple of years back before my switch to IT.
I have almost a year to prepare myself...so i think the key point is learning the language as much as possible, but i was hoping someone on this forum may have some words of advice or tips on better preparing myself.
Any input is appreciated and i appreciate your time reading this lengthy post

Hi Danny and welcome. What a refreshing change to hear a Brit with the right idea, learning the language is the No 1 priority for success in France. You have the ideal opportunity with a French girlfriend (lucky you) insist that at least one day a week you speak NOTHING but French, it really does work.
With your attitude you will get work. _________________ Remember: You don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing! |

Hi Danny,
I'll say either, if your girlfriend and you manage to do it... As for as i'm concerned, i don't.
You'll nevertheless make a lot of progress as soon as there won't be english around you !
I'm experiencing it with polish now, and i improve rapidly !
Good luck ! _________________ Semper Fidelem |

A job realy easy to get, is as bar tender... Or in restaurants... It's nevertheless harassing and not so enjoying.
But there're plenty of offers. _________________ Semper Fidelem |
