Post subject: cars in France |

Sorry, I seem to be hogging this forum but can anyone tell me what the reaction of the police is to driving a British car in France? I believe that it's only legal to keep a British registered car in France for 6 months but am told that most people keep them there longer and the police don't bother. Is that true? _________________ Remember: You don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing! |

It's rather true to say that in France, if you drive with care - fasting your sit belt, driving at 50km/h in town, 110/130 on motorway, 90 everywhere else, and not ignoring signsposts - the only thing they might want to check is your alcohol rate (in blood).
In 12 years of driver, they have never stopped me once.
Perhaps i'm lucky
Furthermore, there're more and more English cars coming for vacations. They will never check if you're there for 1 month, or 12 years.
Just notice, i'm not sure your assurance will cover you after the legal delay. It's the main reason for having your car in laws. For instance, you might know we have to pass a car health check every two years. If we don't, assurance can (and most of the time will) not function.
(Excuse me, i just don't find my words this afternoon...) _________________ Semper Fidelem |
