moving to France

I'm coming to live in France, I intend to buy a country property and to move my furniture, goods and chattels over also two dogs and two cats. Are there any special requirements with regard to customs, importing animals, furniture etc? All replies will be thanked as I realise that it's time consuming to educate us newbies.
