Post Post subject: Who have used to bring your furniture to France? Reply with quote

Hi, hope you all had a great Xmas!

We are moving to France in April (this is when our house will be finished being built) and wondered who any of you used to bring your furniture over? We are moving to the Charante area near to Confolons, also would love to keep in touch with any of you who is willing to give me tips etc on living in France.
We (hubby and I ) have been having French classes for the last 10 months, hubby also works in Paris 2 days a week so he is better than me. I had thought of seeing if anyone in our village would be willing to come and talk to me in French a couple of days a week (payed of course) or of doing some volunteer work with French people maybe the local school. What do you think?

Hi Debbie and welcome to the forum. Sorry I did not reply earlier but I've been away over Christmas!

Take a look at other posts for information to see if anyone else has moved furniture over.

Good for you starting to learn French - so many people don't bother! I think it's a great idea to do volunteer work if you can find it as mixing with locals will not only help you greatly with learning the language but will also make you some friends. One you have made some friends it can the language will come along quickly. Just try to ensure they don't speak much English!

Hi Debby...

Just well chosen near Confolans. This region is truly enjoying !
I think you should contact the school of your new town. Most of them are really entousiastic when someone want to help... And for instance as your English is great, i truly think there will be a place for you there.

Nevertheless, you could also give some English lessons to get some contact. Normally, this has a cost in France (from 10€ to 30€ / hour depending on who gives them) ... you may exchange it by conversation in French Question

Just don't be affraid of making mistakes while speacking French (hum, don't be offended if someone smile as you make some), and keep on taking with this horrible language that is French. Wink

Friendly...
