Post subject: Retiring to France |

|
UK residents who wish to retire to France are advised to contact the D.S.S. several weeks before they are due to move, who will sort out the required documentation:
If you move to France before you are eligible for your state pension (although you ARE receiving a private pension) then you need to apply for the E106 form, which covers medical assistance for 2 years. Thereafter you will need to take out a private insurance or voluntary contributions if you are still not eligible for a state pension.
For pensioners who only receive a UK state pension, an E121GB form is needed in order to obtain health care in France.
For pensioners who receive a UK and a French pension, France is responsible for medical assistance costs and the pensioner is dealt with in the same manner as a French pensioner.
For pensioners who receive a UK pension but will later also receive a French pension, an E121GB form is needed. Health care costs will be re-examined when the French pension becomes payable.
Information mostly obtained from the French Consulate in UK |
