Post subject: Looking for work in France from May |
|
|
Hey!
I've applied for a working holiday visa which is valid for a year and am moving to France at the end of May. The idea behind this OE (Overseas Experience) is to learn the French language, culture, way of life.
In Australia I work in IT Recruitment but I'm wanting to get out of the rat race for a while and try something different. I've been learning French for a couple of months and will be continuing group and private lessons on a weekly basis leading up to my departure. That should give me a good foundation - I figure the best way to learn is to dive in and emerse myself in French life!
So...I'm looking for work in a restaurant, winery, shop... or something I can do bearing in mind that my French will be minimal to start with. I'm 22 and have experience in hospitality, recruitment, information technology (ran my own business while studying), marine animal care...and a bunch of other things.
I'm hoping to secure a job (or at least have some options lined up) before I get to France. Does anyone here know of any businesses I could get in touch with who might be interested in hiring me?
I'm not fussy on location but I would like to start off in the south of France and head to Paris later on.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Edward and welcome.
There are thousands of people like you who try to do the sensible thing and procure a job before coming but so many people change their minds and don't turn up that employers won't give jobs until you're actually in the country. _________________ Remember: You don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing! |

Merci Rob,
Much the same as Australia/New Zealand...I thought that would be the case but thought I could start seeing what's about and who I could approach when I get there!
