Paris is a very romantic city and it really does not matter what time of the year you actually visit this lovely city because there is something about Paris that even when the weather is not at its best, it still has so much charm about it.
Paris by day is a vibrant, bustling metropolis where there is something happening somewhere at any given moment in time. In the evenings and at night, Paris has the ‘joie de vie’ that is so very typical of the French. I absolutely adore going out for a meal when I am visiting Paris and have found certain restaurants which are more than just a bit special.
These really are at the top end of the market where the food is served in sumptuous settings and the menus are out of this world. These are the restaurants where the service is second to none and the cheeseboards are to die for.
At the very top of my list is a very exclusive restaurant which is an absolute must if you ever want to celebrate a special occasion. It is of course La Tour D’Argent. People who dine here dress for the occasion and men wear ties something which is always such a nice thing to see these days. The food and service are impeccable and the restaurant itself is wonderfully placed, having a panoramic vista overlooking Place de la Bastille.
As my second choice I have to select the wonderful restaurant in Place des Vosges called L’Ambroisie. The food is exquisitely French and served in style in a romantic and luxurious setting. I have enjoyed some amazing meals here which will go down as the most memorable I have ever tasted, especially their desserts.
Another of my favourite places to eat is Arpége. I adore anything that has truffles in it, and these figure in many of the dishes that are served in this simple but delightful restaurant. The seafood menu is extraordinary with monkfish, shellfish all cooked with exquisite sauces and I must say I find it a real treat to eat here occasionally.
Whenever I go to Paris I love to see a show and of course the best place to go is the Lido where there are wonderful shows put on in a luxurious setting. There is also one of the best restaurants here and the food they serve is out of this world. The best part is that diners get the best seats in the house, so not only do you eat very well but you get to see the show from the best seats available.
Paris is full of extraordinary restaurants and I do love to find new ones each time I visit the capital. Le Boffinger is wonderful, La Coupole is delightful but the list is endless. However, there is always one thing for sure and this is that Paris will always be the best place for gourmet eateries, it is just a question of trying them all.
