There is one thing that I simply adore doing and this is to wonder around flea markets. They say that one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure and when it comes to rummaging through stalls on an antique market in France, I always find some little gems to bring home with me. Over the years I have found lovely things from paintings to furniture at the many Brocante fairs I’ve visited and my home is full of these wonderful French treasures.
If you are anywhere near Saint-lo in Basse-Normandie on the 13th November, then if like me you really enjoy going to antique fairs, there is one organized close to the Parc Expo. This is an undercover market so it really doesn’t matter what they weather is doing outside.
There will be small items of furniture, books, vinyl records, paintings, bits and bobs as well as textiles and tools being sold on the various stalls there, so you are bound to find something of interest to buy. But just going to these events is a real pleasure and even when I don’t find anything, I still enjoy the entertaining atmosphere the traders create especially at the fairs organized in France.
