If like me you love handmade quilts and patchwork covers, then you will love this exhibition of hand-crafted Amish works of art that’s taking place in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines. The expo began way back in December but is continuing right through to 12th February and is proving to be a huge success.
The exhibition is organised by Jacques Légeret and the Association Française d’Histoire Anabaptiste Mennonite (AFHAM) together with Initiatives Evènements.
This wonderful exhibition not only displays some of the greatest Amish creative talents which is portrayed in their gorgeous patchworks and quilts, but also it tells the story of the importance of this lovely tradition and how every young Amish girl learns the art of patchwork making as a matter of course in their daily lives.
Jacques Légeret gives a great speech at the expo which explains many of the Amish traditions and how this community places such importance in the values of their unique culture.
The exhibition if free to enter and is one that is not only fascinating with the beautiful patchworks and quilts on display but very educational too.
