Madonna film stage show with Blondie hits for London
Madonna's 1985 film Desperately Seeking Susan is being turned into a musical stage show and is set for London's West End.

The new show will incorporate several hits by new wave band Blondie, as well as an original song written by the lead singer, Debbie Harry.


MadonnaReferring to the words of her songs, Debbie Harry, 62, is reported to have said: "The story just works with the lyrics."

Madonna made her debut as an actress in the original film Desperately Seeking Susan but Emma Williams will be playing her role in the new production.

Kelly Price, who appeared in the West End production of Guys and Dolls, will play Roberta Glass - played by Rosanna Arquette in the original movie.

American writer, director and actor Peter Michael Marino conceived the musical version of Desperately Seeking Susan.

Heart of Glass, One Way or Another and The Tide Is High are among the Blondie hits used in the musical of Desperately Seeking Susan, which will open at London's Novello Theatre on October 12.
