Britney Spears apology for attack on photographer’s car

Pop singer Britney Spears has made a public apology for attacking a photographer's car with an umbrella earlier on this year. In a message displayed prominently on her website, Britney Spears said: "I apologise to the pap for a stunt that was done four months ago."

Photos of Britney Spears, 25, striking out at the car appeared in several newspapers, and now Britney Spears has explained that she got "carried away" preparing for a part in a movie but went on to add that she did not get the role she wanted.

Britney Spears has had her problems this year and was also in the press over a bizarre incident in which she shaved her head at a beauty salon and checked in and out of rehab centres.

There was a lot of speculation that Britney Spears was suffering a breakdown brought on in part by the stress of her divorce from Kevin Federline, the father of her two young children.

Britney Spears booked into a Malibu clinic in February and admitted she had hit "rock bottom" but denied she went into the centre because of alcohol problems.

In May, however, Britney Spears made her first comeback stage appearance since her spell in the rehab clinic when she performed at the House of Blues club in San Diego.
