TV Sci-Fi character Dr Who gets new companion
The very popular TV Sci-Fi character of the Time Lord Doctor Who is to get a new companion who will accompany him on his travels in time and space when the series returns and his current co-star will be staying on as well.

Actress Freema Agyeman, 28, is going to play the role of Martha Jones in three episodes of new spin-off show Torchwood and because of this she will miss the first half of the fourth series of Doctor Who. However, Freema Agyeman will then return to the popular Sci-Fi programme.

Actress Freema Agyeman had so impressed producers with a brief appearance in the minor part of alien expert Adeola that they invited her to try for the part of companion for Dr Who - played by actor David Tennant. Billie Piper, who played Rose, had left at the end of the second series and a new companion was needed.

Dr Who is in its fourth series since its revival in 2005, after previously coming to an end in 1989 after 26 years.
