The new companion will bbe making an appearance soon, it has been reported and will be in the whole 13-week run, which starts filming this month.
Actress Freema Agyeman had so impressed producers with a brief appearance in the minor part of alien expert Adeola that they invited her to try for the part of companion for Dr Who - played by actor David Tennant. Billie Piper, who played Rose, had left at the end of the second series and a new companion was needed.
Dr Who is in its fourth series since its revival in 2005, after previously coming to an end in 1989 after 26 years.
