Disgraced American heiress and pop singer Paris Hilton has appeared on CNN’s Larry King chat show and she told her TV host that her prison time as "traumatic." Paris Hilton had recently been an inmate of a Los Angeles prison after being sentenced for violating probation on a driving ban.

Paris Hilton, 26, explained: "It was a very traumatic experience but I feel like God does make everything happen for a reason," and she also promised to party less and try and be a more responsible role model for her fans.

Paris Hilton had been released from prison on Tuesday after serving 23 days of a 45-day sentence and the appearance on Larry King’s show was her first televised interview since getting out of jail.

Paris Hilton maintained that she should not have been imprisoned in the first place and she said: "I think the crime did not fit the punishment. I don't feel like I deserved to go to jail."

Paris Hilton described how she suffered panic attacks and nightmares that someone would break into her cell, and she said that her small cell made her claustrophobia much worse.

Paris Hilton said that although she hated the experience it had given her an opportunity to re-evaluate her life and think about her future.
