Maltese police investigate Madeleine McCann sightings
Police in Malta are reported to be investigating possible sightings of four-year-old Madeleine McCann, who went missing 50 days ago from Praia da Luz in the Algarve on 3 May.

Some British tourists have reported seeing a child resembling Madeleine McCann in the island's capital, Valletta, and in the Maltese resort of Sliema.

Madeleine McCannRay Roberts, from Anglesey, north Wales, said he saw a little girl looking like Madeleine McCann in Sliema wearing what looked like a black wig.

The newspaper In-Nazzjon revealed that two tourists had reported to Maltese police that they had seen a girl matching Madeleine McCann's description in Valletta, and four more people have come forward with possible sightings since then.

Superintendent Pierre Calleja, of the police force in Malta, said he had received a report last Sunday of a possible sighting and Maltese magistrate has taken evidence from those claiming to have seen Madeleine

A spokesman for Madeleine McCann's parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, said they were not focusing on the potential sightings of their missing daughter until more official information was available.
