Officials had been questioned as to why Paris Hilton, 26, had been released from jail just three days into her sentence, and following a storm of complaints from the public who claimed she was receiving preferential treatment, Paris Hilton was ordered by a judge to return to jail.
It had been reported that she was to be released and had to serve the rest of her sentence under house arrest due to undisclosed medical problems.
Sheriff Lee Baca had denied that Paris Hilton was being treated better because she was a celebrity.
Paris Hilton was sent for a few days to a treatment centre at Twin Towers jail in Los Angeles for medical and psychiatric examination.
