France will not forget New Orleans
On Saturday France's ambassador to America, Jean-David Levitte visited Cameron Parish in Louisiana, the part of the coast that was totally destroyed during the disaster that has lately occurred in the region. The ambassador promised to help the community as he was devastated by what he saw from the US Army helicopter flying above the town and concluded with the words: " I underestimated how much water there was. It's an absolute disaster".

Some other initiatives connected with helping the victims, such as organizing a concert of musicians from the US "jazz capital" in Paris in order to raise money to rebuild Louisiana are planned. A lot of money has already been collected from French companies to support French people living in the region affected by Katrina and Rita. The money is to be spent on bilingual schools as well as numerous current needs.

France wants to continue to support the affected region and is considering all possible means of help. After seeing so much destruction no-one could stay unmoved and this will strengthen France's resolve to help the people of New Orleans.
