Suspicions connected with the possible attack were based on telephone intercepts from Algeria but no plan of attack was found. All signals of terrorist attacks are taken very seriously as interior minister Nicolas Sarkozy claimed that there were some terrorist operating in French territory and Paris is definitely one of the European cities that is in real danger of attack.
After the bombings in London some steps, such as drawing up new law or greater police access to Internet and mobile phone records have been taken in order to detect any worrying signals. France wants to protect its citizens and that's why the words spoken by Sarkozy are so crucial : "The first freedom is the freedom to take the metro or the bus without fearing for one's life."
Investigators are to question the nine men and either release them or bring them before an anti-terrorism judge. It's important to mention that among those held is Safe Bourada who was released from prison in 2003 where he spent five years for helping to organize a series of bomb attacks in France in 1995 that caused the death of nine people.
