Pop star Britney Spears gives first show since rehab

Troubled pop singer Britney Spears has given her first public performance since she recently left a rehabilitation clinic, when she sang five songs at the House of Blues club in San Diego, California.

After arriving at the venue Britney Spears, 25, was greeted by many photographers and fans. Britney Spears, who was wearing a white miniskirt, a pink bra top and a brown wig, performed for just 20 minutes and said: "Thanks everyone for coming."

Britney Spears had been in the news this year after she shaved her head at a salon and checked in and out of rehab clinics and it had been reported that the singer was having some form of breakdown following the split up with husband Kevin Federline.

An unknown band called The M&M's had been originally billed as appearing at the House of Blues club.

Britney Spears has not released an album since 2003 but is hoping to make a comeback and this short appearance is one of her first steps at returning to the world of pop.
