Fernando Alonso - youngest ever F1 world champion
FernandoAlonsoInterlagos racetrack in Brazil saw Spain's Fernando Alonso become the youngest ever f1 motor racing world champion on Sunday 25th September. Alonso started from pole position in his Renault with Juan Pablo Montoya alongside him full of hope that he could take the world championship by winning the Brazilian Grand Prix. Montoya quickly took the lead and apart from the fuel stops drove a commanding race to give McLaren-Mercedes their fifth win in six races. However Alonso's reliability in the early part of the season has been the key to his becoming world champion.

Although the driver's world championship may well be decided for 2005 the constructor's championship is far from decided. McLaren-Mercedes have a slender two point lead, the first time this season that they have been in the lead. Having been so near to a one two finish several times this season it's ironic that they managed it for the first time at the race that clinched the driver's championship for Fernando Alonso.

The excitement will continue in Japan and China, unless McLaren-Mercedes manage to repeat their one two in the first of the next two races then we're in for a thrilling finish to the f1 season.
