Gordon Brown likely to be new UK PM says Tony Blair
British Prime Minister Tony Blair has announced that "in all probability" Chancellor Gordon Brown will be his successor in the near future, and that he will be making his resignation next week.

Tony Blair made his prediction about Gordon Brown while campaigning in Scotland on the 10th anniversary of his coming to power.


Tony BlairTony Blair will continue as prime minister for about seven weeks after while Labour chooses the person who will be his replacement.

Although he has suggested it is likely that Gordon Brown will take over Tony Blair he wont formally endorse this as definite yet.

Speaking at an election rally Tony Blair is reported top have said: "In all probability a Scot will become PM of the United Kingdom, someone who has built our economy into one of the strongest in the world, and who, as I have said many times before, would make a great PM for Britain."

Tony Blair has confirmed he will leave No 10 Downing Street by September, but an exact date has not been fixed.
