Sir Elton John celebrates being 60 with a New York show
To celebrate his 60th birthday, Sir Elton John has performed to a huge crowd at New York's Madison Square Garden and former American President Bill Clinton introduced him.

Elton John, took to the stage dressed in a black tailcoat and received a standing ovation from the audience of more than 20,000 fans and guest celebrities.

Sir Elton JohnBesides Elton John having just turned 60, it was his 60th appearance at the Madison Square Garden venue, and as was fitting for the occasion he performed his hit Sixty Years On.

President Bill Clinton said: "Thank you for coming tonight to help celebrate Elton joining my favourite club, the 60-year-olds' club."

Sir Elton John, who was born Reg Dwight in north London, said he had known for several years what he wanted to do when he reached 60 and this was it.

Amongst Sir Elton John’s celebrity guests were American actress and rock singer Bette Midler, model Elizabeth Hurley, Italian designer Donatella Versace, actor Pierce Brosnan and British heavy metal rocker, Ozzy Osbourne.
