Former stars of the Swedish pop group Abba, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, who once had a hit with The Winner Takes It All, have just won a court case over who gets the royalties from one of their popular musicals.
Carl-Johan Seth had written a first draft of a show called Kristina from Duvemala, which tells the story of 19th Century Swedish immigrants to America and of the heroine Kristina, but Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson from Abba successfully argued in court that his script couldn’t be used.
Kristina Fran Duvemala has a score by Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson and a recording of the Swedish show on CD is available on the MSI label.
