Picasso paintings stolen from granddaughter’s Paris home
It has been reported that at least two paintings by Spanish painter Pablo Picasso have been stolen from the artist’s granddaughter's home in the French city of Paris. The Paris organised crime squad is investigating the matter.

A portrait of Picasso’s daughter, Maya with Doll, and one of his second wife Jacqueline Roque went missing from the house on Monday night, police sources have revealed, however, no evidence of a break-in at the home of Diana Widmaier-Picasso was found.

Maya with DollIt is said that the missing Picasso paintings have an estimated total value of 50m euros (£33.7m)

The works of painter Picasso are among the most valuable artworks in the world and because of this are frequently targeted by crooks.

A similar theft happened once before when in 1989 thieves broke into the home of Marina Picasso, another of the painter’s granddaughters, and stole 12 paintings worth $17m (£8.7m).
