R&B singer Brandy faces an additional charge
R&B singer Brandy Rayana Norwood, 27, usually known as just Brandy, whose negligence, led to the death of a woman in a four-car crash, is now facing further legal action.

The California Highway Patrol has recommended the misdemeanour vehicular manslaughter charge, to prosecutors handling Brandy’s case. This charge carries a maximum sentence of one year imprisonment.

R&B singer BrandyAwatef Aboudihaj, 38, a Los Angeles waitress and the woman who was fatally wounded in the accident on December 30, was hospitalised with what officers described as "major" injuries and she died the next day. Brandy was sued for $50 million by the family of Awatef Aboudihaj for causing her wrongful death.

Alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as contributing to the accident and there was no evidence that Brandy was otherwise distracted, California Highway Patrol spokesman Leland Tang explained.

Brandy's spokeswoman, Kelly Mullens said in a statement: "The accident was a terrible tragedy and Brandy's heart goes out to Awatef Aboudihaj's family. But for legal reasons we cannot comment on this lawsuit."
