Paris Hilton sentenced in Los Angeles court
Singer, media personality and hotel heiress Paris Hilton was given three years probation and fined US$1,150 after pleading no contest to an alcohol-related reckless driving charge.

Paris Hilton, 25, did not appear in the Los Angeles court, and attorneys entered her plea.

Paris HiltonAs well as the fine and the probation sentence, Judge Michael Sauer ordered Paris Hilton to attend an alcohol education program and gave her the option of reducing her probation to 2 years if she carried out 40 hours of community service.

Police had stopped Paris Hilton on Sept. 7 after she had been seen driving erratically on a Hollywood street in her Mercedes-Benz.

Police found that the level of alcohol in her blood was 0.08%, which is the minimum needed for a person to be deemed in violation of the law.

Paris Hilton's publicist, Elliot Mintz, is reported to have spoken to her after the case and found that she was happy the matter had been dealt with.
