Naomi Campbell, 36, admitted she had thrown the phone in her Park Avenue apartment, but claimed she didn’t intend for it to actually hit Ana Scolavino.
Naomi Campbell's lawyer David Breitbart asked the judge if it would be possible for her to be sentenced to indoor community work rather than punishment such as sweeping the streets,
Singer Boy George had faced the problem of a throng of photographers when he attempted to sweep streets in lower Manhattan in August when he was given court ordered community service, and Mr Breibart told the judge it could be dangerous for Naomi Campbell if she was made to do this too.
Judge Robert Mandelbaum said he noted the request, and Assistant District Attorney Shanda Strain said: "If that's what is available at the time she goes to do the community service that is acceptable."
Naomi Campbell released an apologetic statement, saying: "I pleaded guilty to a misdemeanour in court today. That's the best way I know to say I'm sorry to Ana."
Naomi Campbell is no stranger to controversy and trouble like this and at least three past employees have accused the supermodel of assaulting them.
