
Taser guns temporarily incapacitate a their victim with up to 50,000 volts of electricity and critics have linked their use to many deaths that have resulted from their use, however, Taser claim they save lives by cutting down on the use of firearms.
The Taser stun gun, which shoots darts that pierce the skin and deliver a paralysing jolt of electricity, has been at the centre of fresh controversy this weekend because of the death of a man in Florida after police used the weapon in order to subdue him.
Late last year a man in the north of the country of the UK died three days after being shot with a Taser, and this incident has also sparked serious criticism and debate.
The new Taser gun is likely to be a lot cheaper than the current, larger civilian model - which sells for around $1,000 (£520).
