Actor Michael Richards to apologise for racist outburst
Ex-Seinfeld actor Michael Richards has promised he will apologise in person to four black audience members he offended in a recent racist outburst he made while performing at the Laugh Factory comedy club in Los Angeles.

A retired judge will act as mediator at the meeting, Michael Richards' spokesman and an attorney for the customers has said but a time and place for the meeting to take place has yet to be arranged. However, the patrons' attorney Gloria Allred is reported to have said it was likely to take place in January.

"My client hopes to put it behind him," said Michael Richards' representative Howard Rubenstein but Gloria Allred said her clients would use the meeting to express "the pain they suffered" as a result of his racist outburst on 17 November.

"We look forward to sitting down face to face with Mr Richards," said Kyle Doss, one of the four people upset by the actor and comedian.

Michael Richards, 57, is best known for playing eccentric neighbour Cosmo Kramer in Jerry Seinfeld's sitcom.

As a guest on the Rev Jesse Jackson's Keep Hope Alive show Michael Richards claimed he had never used racist language before and explained he had been provoked by "humiliation".
