The diplomats say Iceland should respect the global moratorium on commercial whaling and reverse the "unnecessary" decision it made last month but Iceland says it has received support from some other countries.
This action follows other diplomatic moves, including the summoning of Iceland's ambassador to London by Britain's marine affairs minister, Ben Bradshaw, as well as a protest by the American ambassador to Reykjavik.
Iceland stated in mid-October that it intended to start commercial whaling again and in so doing would become only the second country after Norway to hunt the great whales for commercial purposes since a global moratorium was imposed in 1986.
Only last year the anti-whaling nations sent letters of protest to Norway and Japan, the countries, which catch the most whales.
