Former Monty Python star Terry Jones has surgery for colon cancer
Former TV cult comedy Monty Python star Terry Jones has undergone an operation for colon cancer.

Teyy Jones, 64, is described as being "in good spirits and the operation went very well", his agent Jodi Shields has said.

Last week, Terry Jones joined his former Monty Python colleagues Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin for the London debut of Idle's Python musical Spamalot.

Terry Jones directed the three Monty Python films as well as movies including The Wind in the Willows, and he has also been successful as a TV presenter, author and historian.

His agent said: "Terry's doctors are very cheered with an early diagnosis of possible colon cancer for which he has now had routine surgery in a London private hospital."

Terry Jones was diagnosed with the cancer just over a week ago and all his public engagements cancelled for the next few weeks "to allow him some recovery and resting time", his agent explained.
