Cameron Diaz accuses photographer of assault

Movie star and actress Cameron Diaz has accused a photographer of assaulting her with a deadly weapon by allegedly driving a car at her, police have reported.

The incident happened as Cameron Diaz, 34, and boyfriend Justin Timberlake, 25, left a friend's house in Hollywood on Wednesday, officer April Harding explained.

When the couple spotted a man attempting to take photographs of them they went after him.

"The photographer got into his car and drove toward Diaz and Timberlake," said Ms Harding and added that the incident caused "Diaz to jump out of the car's way".

The actress has since filed a report in Los Angeles but no arrests have been made and no suspects have yet been identified.

"The investigation is in its initial stages," said Officer Harding.

Last year, another photographer who took topless pictures of Cameron Diaz aged 19 and then tried to sell them back to her for $3.5m (£1.9m), was imprisoned for more than three years.
