Outrage in French town of Sete at wedding using shredded Euro note confetti
An extravagant wedding in the French town of Sete in which the happy couple were showered in confetti made from shredded euro notes has caused outrage.

Residents of Sete were up in arms after the bride and groom were covered in confetti made from 5, 10, 20 and 50-euro notes and they even lodged a formal complaint because destruction of banknotes is a crime.

However, according to reports, the money was worthless because the euro notes were defective and bound for the incinerator. A friend of the bride's family had procured the useless and doomed money.

The problem started when townsfolk saw the confetti at the 8 July wedding and formed a collective to force local officials to take action.

"It's revolting that people have to see their minimum wage turned into confetti lying on the street," one member of the collective said.

The outrageous confetti was part of a wedding ceremony attended by more than 200 guests, and which included a fireworks display costing over 40,000 euros ($51,000), according to French newspaper Liberation.
