Chinese TV football commentator apologises to Australian fans for World Cup remarksChinese TV football commentator Huang Jianxiang has apologised for on-air remarks he made during the World Cup match between Italy and Australia earlier this week.
Huang Jianxiang lost his composure when Italy defeated Australia in the World Cup with an injury-time goal and shouting support for Italy, he made comments such as "I hate Australia" in an angry rant lasting several minutes.
After complaints from Australian football fans, Mr Huang apologised, saying his emotions had got the better of him.
Remarks such as "long live Italy" at first were seen as amusing but after several minutes and failed attempts by colleagues to prevent him carrying on like this, Mr Huang faced a barrage of condemnation.
Usually a reserved commentator, Mr Huang at first refused to apologise for his outburst, however, after he had a chance to listen back to his performance, he felt he had included too much personal feeling in his commentary and made his apology.
