Real Madrid football star Ronaldo forced out of playing for Brazil in World Cup
Real Madrid football star Ronaldo was forced out of Brazil's Thursday training session due to illness.

Striker Ronaldo, 29, trained as usual on Wednesday after getting over the blisters that forced him out of the game in Sunday's friendly with New Zealand.

A statement on the Brazil Football Federation website said, "He woke with a fever and is receiving medication."

World Cup holders Brazil are in the process of getting ready for their opening match of the tournament against Croatia on 13 June but their star player Ronaldo's season has been spoiled by problems.

Ronaldo, who was the top scorer at the 2002 finals, with eight goals, missed the end of the Spanish domestic season due to an injury at the time.

Earlier on this season Ronaldo scored five goals in Brazil's three warm-up matches since they arrived in Europe on 22 May, against Fluminense's Under-20 squad, Swiss side FC Lucerne and against New Zealand, which shows that he had the ability to have played well in the World Cup had he not gone down with illness.
