Why not rent an upside-down shipshape
house on the French coast?

At the beginning of the last century the fishermen in a village in northern France had the idea of turning their wrecked boats upside down so that they could be used as makeshift homes. Now 100 years later tourists can rent the houses as holiday apartments; they are idyllically situated on white cliffs overlooking the English Channel.

If you're interested in spending your holiday in a not so conventional manner this is something to fulfill your demands! The four boats are fixed on breeze-block bases and tarred to prevent the hulls from rotting in the severe winter weather. The boats are equipped with bunks, living areas, a kitchen and a bathroom. Some claim that the boats are not really suitable for claustrophobics, as they're far from spacious but still they are nice and cool. The concept of renting the upside-down homes seems to work well as the four boats are almost always fully booked in the summer season and because of this popularity the local authorities are thinking of adding four new ones.
