French President Nicolas Sarkozy to travel to Rwanda
French President Nicolas Sarkozy is flying out to Rwanda in February.  It will be the first time a French president has gone to Kigali since the genocide in the country back in 1994.

Rwanda's foreign ministry has released the news of President Sarkozy’s visit.

French PresidentThere have been diplomatic problems between Rwanda and France since 2006 when a French judge, Jean-Louis Bruguiere, had alleged that Rwandan President Paul Kagame helped cause the genocide there. Rwanda had claimed that France had supplied the Hutu militias with arms.

Rwanda and France patched up their differences in November of last year, three years after judge Bruguiere had alleged that a number of Tutsi officials were responsible for the murder of President Juvenal Habyaremana.

President Nicolas Sarkozy’s visit it is hoped will do a lot to help restore friendship between France and Rwanda.
