Rap star Wyclef Jean appeals on Twitter for donations for HaitiRapper and former Fugees star Wyclef Jean has launched an appeal on his Twitter site for fans to help earthquake-stricken Haiti by making donations to help the people of the Caribbean state. Haiti was hit by a massive 7.0-magnitude quake on Tuesday.
37-year-old Jean, who was born in Haiti in 1972, posted: "They need our help - please help if you can."
Jean, who is now on his way to the island, had been appointed as a roving ambassador for Haiti in 2007. The star runs his own Yele Haiti foundation to help the people of the country. The earthquake struck the island south of the capital, Port-au-Prince, and thousands are thought to have lost their lives in the natural disaster. Jean also published on his site the following statement: "I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands will only make this tragedy worse."
