UK rock band Muse win album artwork award for The Resistance

British rock band Muse has been awarded the Best Art Vinyl prize for the best record cover of 2009 for their album The Resistance.

The Manic Street Preachers' Journal For Plague Lovers was runner-up followed by Fever Ray's self-titled album.

50 obscure as well as famous vinyl record sleeves from 2009 were contest entries for the award in the contest which is now in its fifth year.

The winners are going to be displayed in an exhibition at the Art Vinyl gallery that is part of the Selfridges shop in London, as well as going on show at three other venues in Birmingham, Folkestone and east London.

The artwork for the sleeve for The Resistance by Muse that came out last September had been created by London design firm La Boca.
