Director Roman Polanski’s victim urges case to be dismissed
French-born director Roman Polanski’s past victim of sexual assault has called for the charges against him to be dropped.

Samantha Geimer’s lawyers have urged that the case against Polanski, who is wanted for sentencing in the US, should be dismissed.

Roman PolanskiMs Geimer, who currently lives in Hawaii, was 13 when Polanski had sex with her in 1977, and now she has had health problems as a result of media pressure following the film-maker's arrest in Zurich in September.

76-year-old Polanski is in custody in Switzerland on a US arrest warrant and awaiting possible extradition to be given his sentence for his past sex crime.

The director has been living in France since he fled America in 1978, after pleading guilty to having unlawful sex with a minor.

Ms Geimer sued Polanski in 1988 when she was 25, and the director agreed to pay her $500,000, although it is not known if she ever received this sum.
