French former PM Dominique de Villepin’s trial ends
Former French PM Dominique de Villepin’s trial in Paris has ended. Mr de Villepin was charged with conspiring to undermine current President Nicolas Sarkozy's presidential bid back in 2007.

Lawyers summed up the case on Friday, and the verdict is expected on 28 January.

Robbie WilliamsMr de Villepin explained to the press that although he and his family had had the case hanging over their heads for the last four years, they wanted to leave it all behind them and look towards the future.

He added: "I want to reach out to Nicolas Sarkozy. I am not bitter, and I want to serve the French people in my rightful place."
