French fossil hunters find dinosaur footprints in France
Massive dinosaur footprints that are believed to be some of the biggest in the world have been discovered in eastern France.

Fossil hunters came upon the prints at a site at Plagne, near Switzerland, and scientists have called the discovery an “exceptional” one.

Dinosaur footprintsThe National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) is reported to have said: "Further digs will be carried out in the coming years and they may reveal that the site at Plagne is one of the biggest of its kind in the world."

The footprints are said to have been made about 150 million years ago by long-necked herbivorous dinosaurs and they are believed to have weighed about 30 tonnes.

Although the discovery was actually made earlier this year by a couple of amateur fossil hunters in April, it has only now been confirmed by scientists.
