Easy Rider star Dennis Hopper examined for flu-like illness

Hollywood actor Dennis Hopper was admitted to hospital because he was suffering from a flu-like illness, his publicist revealed.

The 73-year-old star, who is probably best-known for his roles in Easy Rider and Blue Velvet, was examined at a New York hospital but he has since been discharged.

Hopper was forced to cancel a number of interviews in which he would have been promoting his new American TV serial Crash.

Hopper has the role of a music producer in the drama, which has been adapted from the film of the same name.

No further information about the illness that the actor was suffering from has been made known apart from that it has been reported that he was complaining about stomach problems.

Hopper says that he is looking forward to getting back to work again.
