Essay Sir Paul McCartney wrote aged 10 discovered
Sir Paul McCartney had written an essay as a 10-year-old and now all these years later it has been discovered in a scrapbook in Liverpool's Central Library.

As a boy McCartney had beaten very many other children to win a prize for his 1953 essay on the occasion of the Queen's coronation, and he describes her as "the lovely young Queen Elizabeth".

Paul McCartneyIn 2013, the essay, which is believed to be one of the earliest works by Sir Paul, will go on public display to mark the 60th anniversary of the coronation.

Liverpool's Lord Mayor had awarded the young McCartney with the prize, which was the winner despite some grammatical errors.

McCartney as a boy had compared the celebrations for the occasion outside Buckingham Palace with the coronation of William the Conqueror nine centuries ago and he had commented that the "present day royalty rules with affection rather than force".
