
Approximately 1,500 migrants gather there in the hopes of finding a way of crossing the Channel into the UK.
Mr Besson is discussing the matter with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees on Thursday but he explained that the camp will be closed down.
The Calais authorities would decide on the exact date for the closure, but the minister said it would be closed down before the end of next week.
Mr Besson further stated that the illegal immigrants will be offered the chance of applying for asylum or they can voluntarily go back to their country of origin.
