Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze dies from cancer

American actor Patrick Swayze, who is most famous for his role in Dirty Dancing, has died it has been reported. He was 57.

He had been battling against pancreatic cancer for the last two years but had kept on working despite his illness, most recently starring in The Beast on US TV.

Swayze’s publicist Annett Wolf said that the actor died peacefully with his family at his side on Monday.

Swayze had been playing a main role inThe Beast even though he was battling against the cancer and he had planned to write a memoir with his wife’s help.

In January this year, Swayze had admitted he might only live for another couple of years but he denied the rumours that he was close to dying.

Tributes are pouring in for a great actor who will be greatly missed.
