French President Nicolas Sarkozy hides shortness claim
French President Nicolas Sarkozy's aides go to great lengths to hide his short stature it is being claimed.

A Belgian television report on RTBF showed a woman worker at the French Faurecia factory visited by Mr Sarkozy who had admitted being chosen to stand by him because she was no taller than the president.

French President Nicolas SarkozyA clip of the report became a hit on the Internet over the weekend and other people have spoken out in support of the allegations, however, the president's office at the Elysee Palace have denied the claims.

Opposition Socialists are reported to have made fun of President Sarkozy for trying to make himself look taller.

The French president is said to be very touchy about his height, which is thought to be 5ft 5in or 5ft 6in (165-168cm), and he is known to have worn shoes with heels, as well as having made speeches whilst made to appear taller by platforms he has been standing on.
