Michael Jackson’s white glove sold to Hard Rock HotelThe late Michael Jackson was famous for his appearance and image as well as his songs and was well-known for wearing a jewelled white glove on stage. The glove that the singer threw to an Australian fan back in 1996 has been bought at an auction in Melbourne for US$49,000 (£29,900).
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is now the owner of the glove that had been thrown into the crowd following a film premiere in Australia when Jackson was in the country on one leg of his HIStory world tour.
Music fan Bill Hibble, who has since also died, was the person who caught the glove, and his mother decided to put it up for auction. Auction house Bonhams and Goodman said that it actually was sold for nearly twice the US$25,500 (£15,500) it had been expected to fetch.
