The ceremony had been scheduled to start at 0200 GMT but actually took place an hour late due to a delay in the Jackson family arriving.
Michael Jackson's brothers - Randy, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon – were the pallbearers for the gold-plated coffin that was taken out of a hearse.
Jackson’s children - Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II – were all seated in the front row alongside the star’s parents, Katherine and Joe Jackson.
Lisa Marie Presley, Jackson's former-wife was also present at the funeral ceremony, which was held after dark outside Forest Lawn's Great Mausoleum.
